This Isn’t Just a Career—It’s Your Calling

You’re here because you’re driven by a deeper purpose. Helping others navigate the complexities of their sexual health, identity, and relationships isn’t just a profession—it’s a mission.

Your Clients Need You More Than Ever

Whether it’s guiding someone through the challenges of gender identity and orientation or supporting them in overcoming sexual dysfunction, your clients are counting on you. They need your expertise to embrace who they are, break free from stigma, and build lives they love.

  • Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and safe.
  • Everyone deserves to have open, honest conversations about sex without shame.

But for many in marginalized and underrepresented communities, this isn’t the reality. Far too many suffer in silence, weighed down by stigma, fear, and misinformation.

Become the Change They Deserve

As a sexual health specialist, you can make an extraordinary difference. With the right training and skill set, you’ll be equipped to help your clients overcome these barriers and transform their lives in ways you may not have thought possible.

Imagine this:

  • Helping an LGBTQ+ individual embrace their identity fully and unapologetically.
  • Supporting a struggling couple to reignite their passion and rediscover their love.

At The Sexual Health School (TSHS), we make this transformation accessible to you. As an AASECT-approved continuing education provider (AASECT #22-021-SHS) and APA-approved for psychologists, our programs provide the tools you need to take your career to the next level.

Meet Dr. Janet Brito

Hi there! I’m a Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor.

🌟 A Bit About Me:

  • 🇲🇽 Proud Mexican-American, and the daughter of immigrant parents from Guerrero and Puebla.
  • 🌆 Born and raised in Chicago, now calling Hawaii home for over 20 years.
  • 💼 Owner and Founder of the Hawaii Center for Sexual and Relationship Health, a thriving group practice I started 7 years ago.

My Journey

Growing up in a Latinx household, sex was a taboo topic—something we simply didn’t talk about. Like many, I carried shame about my own sexuality and struggled to find resources or support.

That all changed when I enrolled in the Sexual Health Certificate Program at the University of Michigan. 📚✨ There, I began to understand the diversity of human sexuality and, most importantly, started embracing myself. For the first time, I felt free.

Further Training

I continued my journey with specialized training in sex therapy at the Program in Human Sexuality (now the Institute for Sexual and Gender Health) at the University of Minnesota. Even in such a progressive setting, I often felt a lack of representation and struggled to feel like I truly belonged.

My Motivation

Those experiences inspired me to create a space where people from underrepresented communities could feel seen, valued, and supported. That’s why I founded The Sexual Health School, a platform for continuing education and certification led predominantly by Latinx and BIPOC instructors.

My Mission

To create a sex-positive world where everyone feels free to live as their authentic selves. 🌈✨

A Personal Note

AASECT isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay! You can still earn certification, build a fulfilling career, and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Together, we’ll create a community where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive in this field.

✨ Join me, and let’s change the world—one step at a time. ✨
